work of Lucknow is perhaps one of the most popular embroidery works in India. It has a certain grace and elegance, which ensures that it never goes out of style. The word Chicana literally means embroidery. It is said to have been originally introduced by Cur Johan, the beautiful wife of the Maugham emperor, Jahangir. It has since evolved and attained its glory and perfection in Lucknow, Utter Preshrank. The work became popular in a number of important cities of the Ind-Genetic plain such as Delhi, Agra, Ramp, Bananas, Patna and Gay. But the supremacy of Lucknow remained unchallenged.
The designs depend for its effect on the variety of stitches used and different grades of threads used to form the patterns which include, the lace like jali, the opaque fillings and the delicacy or boldness of outline and details. The most beautiful part of chikan work is the open work ground, an effect of drawn thread work is achieved without drawing out any. Tiny raised flowers done in what seem to be French knots are balanced by the flat stem stitch and large areas of open work to prevent either a crowded or too scattered appearance.

With the exception of leather, embroidery in India has been done on woven cloth of cotton, wool and silk.
In India, natural colors used for dying distinguishes the work done in India from the others. The Indian embroider never uses too many colors in any one piece. Each state in India has a style unique to its tradition. The satin stitch is used in Kashmir.
The darn stitch, which produces the 'bagh' and 'phulkari' stitch of Punjab is vibrant like the people of the state. The interlacing stitches of Kutch and Kathiawar are as beautiful as they are intricate. The 'kasauti' stitch of Karnataka too is popular due to its traditional value. The white on white 'chikan' work of Uttar Pradesh is breath-taking and requires a lot of skill. The silk embroidery done in Surat has exquisite patterns.
Indian embroidery uses many stitches as well as variations of basic stitches. The running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, feather stitch, interlacing stitch, satin stitch, cross stitch etc. are just to name a few. Indian embroidery exists in exquisite variations and vibrant colors, with each state having a unique style of its own.

Normally any proposed item (apparel) is made in bulk, which carries the risk of failure. Zara reduces this risk by producing in lesser quantity, instead of going for bulk production, Zara prefers fewer items. This approach gives Zara's double benefit, such as lesser risk and creating more demand by making artificial scarcity, which means it can charge more and earn extra profit.
It is natural with all objects especially fashion products; they become more desirable making them more profitable for the company. Normally it is very rare to find a product in its early launch days, a customer has to request such item, which is taken into notice by the store manager and produced within a shortest period of time. Another benefit of this approach is that if the product does sell well, it can be easily scarped back due to lesser quantity, which is not possible for other retailers or in some cases it is moved to another location, where it is selling well.
Retailers foresee profit in mass sale and bulk production. Zara instead produce more styles (new items) than any other retail store; generating profit through greater number rather than bulk production. For example Zara produces about 12000 items per year, the sooner one item is sold next is on the offer. This innovative technique makes Zara different from other retailers who plan for months and years, yet they come up with few items and limited choice, while Zara offers more choices to consumers to choose from. This also helps in pulling the consumers to visit store more often, as there is always some thing new on offer, compared to its competitors who will sell similar items for months.

Zara designs majority of it cloth in Spain (about 95 percent). It focuses on shorter response time enabling it to meet the constantly shifting fashion trends. However such moves do not take months, but this process is    complete within in 30 days; during which Zara identifies the latest trends, design it clothes and supply material to its stores. Such strategy means catching up a trend when it is in vogue in the fashion circles. On the contrary, even the smallest retailers take three to four months; while bigger retailers can take up to nine months to produce any item. It is this difference which makes Zara unique from others.

In the manufacturing environment, Zara's product development teams watch fashion shows and catwalks and translate the ideas into latest fashionable products. Zara has teams in the international arena; who observe the latest fashion trends and report leads to head office; which are later on converted into products. The mangers are also involved in tracking customer demands through sales analysis; this process enables Zara to meet customer's needs and be ahead of its rivals. Its research style is not traditional, but it includes consistent emails and phone calls from various stores to head office and responding to it instantly.

Who decides What's 'Hot' and 'Not' in Fashion Trends
There is no existence of specific group who declares what is hot fashion trend or not.
In fact, the fashion designers and consumers who buys-out the fashion merchandise make their
judgment and throw several opinions out there and observe what is grabbed.
Basically,'WE', the consumer decide which merchandise is hot
by making our minds what to purchase and wear
The Fashion Trend Cycle
First part of the cycle, where the trend is highly hunted immediately after seeing that great fashionable hat,
dress or shoe on the runway, red carpet or music video. Next, comes the emulation phase,
where everyone wants a piece of the trend. Only big shots, celebrities and fashion industry
players have approach to latest fashion right off the runway, which yet not showed up in retail stores.

Apparel and fashion industry is often accused for causing severe environmental impact. Fashion's footprint is often caused by the vast quantity of water and energy consumed, and the waste contributed. But now there is a significant change in the same, proving how love for clothes and latest trends can make a positive difference to the planet. Clothing industry is increasingly influenced by the buzzwords; 'green fashion' 'organic' and 'sustainable'.

The concept of sustainability is going through a miraculous transformation. Generally sustainable fabrics are more associated with coarse fabric, boring colors, and unappealing look. With the magical touch given by creative and environmentally focused fashion designers, sustainable fabrics are now taking pride by being featured in ramp walks. Traditional fabrics are always sustainable. They can be made more stylish by giving it a contemporary touch. In this way, the value of heritage can be preserved and at the same time, the clothes would also be in par with the modern trends. Sustainability is gaining utmost importance among designers and society as a whole. It is not just an end point, but an incessant process of learning and adaptation. Sustainable fashion designing not only changes our lifestyle, and trends, but also influences the way we think about design.

Fashion is influenced by the nature that has created it, and by the styles prevailing in the society. China's fashion and retail sector is getting influenced by Australian trends. There had been a cultural exchange between Australia and China since the 1800's when silk embroidered shawls, and surcoats from China were brought into Australia. Australian women wore clothes made of velvet, georgette, and chiffon, the patterns inspired by Chinese clothing styles. Having acquired a living memory in the wardrobe of Australian women, today the trend is reversing with the Chinese customers getting the Australian fashion inspiration. Australia has a typical fashion style that discriminates it from other styles such as European fashion.

Their clothing style is comfortable with a casual attitude. China is the world's biggest apparel market, and a biggest garment exporter. Apparel market in China witnessed a drastic growth in the past decade, and its huge market size is attracting international brands. It is also one of the hottest markets, with more number of young millionaires. Among the apparel brands seen in the Chinese market one third is of foreign brands, one third is of brands whose production is taken for lease by international companies to domestic Chinese manufacturers. The remaining one third is of counterfeited products with duplicate trademarks.

Fashion brands from Europe and US are at war when it comes to attracting their customers online, in China, Brazil, Russia and a few other emerging markets. A survey take by The Digital Luxury Group, states that European brands do a better business in attracting customers online and in the emerging BRIC markets. American brands are lagging behind when it comes to emerging markets.

Regarding US fashion brands, only 7.5% of global searches are from BRIC countries. 69.8% are from the US itself, and 20.7% are from Europe. On the contrary, 30.5% of the searches for European brands are from BRIC countries, 24.7% are from Europe, and 41.5% are from the US. European brands such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Gucci, had the most 24.5% share from their home regions. This can be compared with the 30.5% share of the BRIC countries, and 41.5% in the US, and 3.5% in Japan. China remains as one of the primary luxury market at a global level. For fashion brands established or exploring their market in China, recent survey results indicate that sales are slowing down. Chinese market is going through a rapid transformation, and to be successful in the fast changing China, brands require refocusing their attention on China.

There are conventional cultural differences between EU and US. European brands have, and are faring much better than their US counterparts. While Europe is closely associated with high fashion, preppy, casual wear are favored by American brands.
